What is it:
HyLigth is an initiative organised by
the University of Palermo and funded by the Italian government, in
order to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and create opportunities
for cooperation and liaison between leading internationally renown
research establishments and consortiums and young researchers and
designers from academia and industry.
Topics:
Promote the adoption of innovative materials and enhance
the Lightweighting Design practice in the naval sector by focusing on
joining technologies and hybrid joining (i.e. joining of dissimilar
materials).
The
synergic adoption of dissimilar materials (e.g. light metallic alloys,
plastic composites, …) is a fundamental design strategy to achieve
improved performances of naval structures through lightweighting,
corrosion resistance and cost-effective processing.
The
Hylight mission is to promote transfer of knowledge events and research
collaborations in order to bring together recognized academic and
industrial experts in the field of Joining technologies and naval
designers and boat builders. The liaison between research establishments
and Industry will be provided by the University through the organisation
of ToK events and the education of young researchers and scientists.
